So beautifully stated Neal. There is beauty in every human being that is sourced in God. Bringing human dignity back to our interactions requires us to see the image of God in everyone, rather than the sin. Both are always present. For most it’s a lot easier to see the flaws.

My friends are amazing and beautiful and haters of everything conservative just because it fits under that banner. They love their daughters though, and they are devoted to their high school students. They value the undocumented and appreciate fine whiskey. It is a fascinating thing that people so crass and godless also have season tickets to the opera and ballet. When I tell them, “That is the image of God in you,” they might scoff, or blink, or say, “Don’t go there Neal.” But the love we actually share for each other is real, and we all know love is utterly sourced in God’s Spirit!
